China's National Bureau of Statistics announced energy production and import data for May.
In the said month, natural gas production increased by 7.2 percent to 19 billion cubic meters, coal production increased by 4.2 percent to 390 million tons, and crude oil production increased by 2.7 percent to 18.07 million tons.
In May, coal imports rose by 92.6 percent to 39.6 million tons and crude oil imports by 12.3 percent to 51.4 million tons. Natural gas imports increased by 17.3 percent to 14.6 billion cubic meters.
On the other hand, in the January-May period, coal imports increased by 89.6 percent to 180 million tons, crude oil by 6.2 percent to 230.2 million tons and natural gas imports by 3.3 percent to 63.8 billion cubic meters compared to the same period last year.
