In the April-July 2023 period, India's total steel imports increased by 23 percent compared to 2022 and reached the level of 2 million tons. During the period in question, China became the second largest finished steel supplier. The products supplied mainly included cold rolled coils.
In addition, in the April-July period of 2023, crude steel production in India increased by 11 percent compared to 2022 and reached 45 million tons. Finished steel consumption, on the other hand, increased by 12 percent compared to the same period of 2022 and was recorded as 41 million tons.
