According to the statistics, the country's crude steel production was 2.7 million tons in July this year, up nearly 6% from the previous month, but down 4.7% from the same month a year earlier.
In the same period, Brazil's rolled steel output increased by 16.7% month-on-month, but decreased by 11.8% y-o-y to 1.9 million tons. Semi-finished steel output, on the other hand, amounted to 715,000 tons, up 40.1% y-o-y.
In the first seven months of this year, Brazil's crude steel output totaled 18.6 million tons, down 8.6% y/y. Production of rolled steel products decreased by 9.5% y-o-y to 12.7 million tons, while output of semi-finished products increased by 16.7% y-o-y to 5.6 million tons.
