According to data from the Brazilian Steel Institute (IABr), the country's crude steel production in August was around 2.72 million tonnes, down 5.9% compared to August 2022.
In this period, the production of rolled products decreased by 12.1% yoy to 1.9 million tonnes. Semi-finished products output, on the other hand, reached 832,000 tonnes, up 44.0% year-on-year.
In the first eight months of this year, Brazil's crude steel production was 21.3 million tonnes, down 8.3% y-o-y. Rolled product output fell by nearly 10% y-o-y to 15 million tonnes, while semi-finished product output rose 19.6% y-o-y to 6.4 million tonnes.
