Brazil detected dumping and subsidization of Chinese exports, which it announced in 2018. However, it then postponed the approval of the tariffs until 2019 because, as stated, such restrictions did not meet the interests of the Brazilian people. After that, the postponement was repeated several more times.
The government finally lifted tariffs on Chinese hot-rolled flat products, explaining the unstable situation on the world steel market.
Duties of $196.49-425.22 per tonne were to be imposed on hot-rolled coil over 600 mm wide and hot-rolled sheet over 600 mm wide and below 4.75 mm thick.
