Brazil is considering the possibility of extending tariffs on stainless steel pipes that are welded

Brazil is considering the possibility of extending tariffs on stainless steel pipes that are welded. The Brazilian Secretariat for International Trade (SECEX) has initiated a second investigation to determine whether anti-dumping measures should be applied to imports of these pipes from Malaysia, Thailand, and Vietnam.

The investigation specifically focuses on welded tubes and pipes ranging from 6 mm to 2032 mm in diameter, with a wall thickness of 0.4 mm to 12.7 mm. Malaysian companies could face tariffs ranging from $367.56 to $740.2 per ton, while Thai companies may be subject to a tariff of $747.56 per ton. Vietnamese companies, on the other hand, could face tariffs ranging from $782.11 to $888.27 per ton.

These duties were initially imposed in 2018 following an investigation prompted by Brazilian companies Aperam Inox Tubos Brasil and Marcegaglia do Brasil.
