Bahrain's Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning has signed a landmark agreement with China Machinery Engineering Corporation (CMEC) to develop 1,269 housing units in Sitra City. This agreement represents the third and final phase of the Sitra Housing Project, with a total investment of 119 million Bahraini dinars.
The signing ceremony, held in Beijing, featured Bahrain's Minister of Housing, Amna bint Ahmed Al Rumaihi, and CMEC Chairman Wang Bo. This collaboration highlights the strengthening relationship between Bahrain and China, particularly following the recent state visit of King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.
Scheduled to begin in the first quarter of 2025, the project aims to deliver not only new housing units but also essential infrastructure services. The Sitra Housing Project envisions an integrated urban environment, complete with residential areas, green spaces, advanced road networks, and various community facilities to enhance residents' quality of life.
Minister Al Rumaihi emphasized the project’s significance in meeting the Ministry's commitment to providing comprehensive housing solutions for Bahraini citizens. She also acknowledged the fruitful partnership with CMEC and the potential for future collaborations under the government's land development rights program.
This initiative is part of Bahrain’s broader strategy to tackle housing challenges and improve living standards, reflecting the nation’s ongoing development efforts.
