Austrian steelmaker Voestalpine AG announced that it will suspend blast furnace No. 5 at its Linz plant for maintenance from August to October.
Voestalpine's Linz plant has three blast furnaces with an annual capacity of 5 million tonnes of pig iron. Of these, blast furnace No. 5 has an annual output of about 840,000 tonnes.
Voestalpine's Linz plant mainly produces steel used in the automobile industry and accounts for 38% of Voestalpine's total steel supply on a revenue basis. In the financial year 2022/23, the company's steel division revenue totalled EUR 6.6 billion.
