ArcelorMittal starts new project to reduce carbon emissions

ArcelorMittal has announced that it has started its flagship carbon capture and exploitation (CCU) project at its factory in Ghent, Belgium.

ArcelorMittal starts new project to reduce carbon emissions

The project will use biocatalysts to convert carbon-rich waste gases from the steelmaking process and waste biomass into advanced ethanol.

Apart from that, ArcelorMittal Ghent has planned to launch another project, the Torero project, in the first quarter of 2023.

The new project will be able to reduce fossil coal use and emissions by approximately 112,500 tons per year.
