In the 2023 annual review, ArcelorMittal highlighted human safety as the most important issue, mentioning material issues, energy use and low-carbon operations.
In a separate announcement by ArcelorMittal in April, the company announced in December 2023 that it had entered into an agreement with dss+, a leading provider of sustainable operations management consulting services, regarding safety practices. The annual review, published on 23 April, stated that safety was the most important issue. At the same time, the company said that investing in planned and existing projects is another factor in achieving success, and signalled that some major projects will be operational during the year.
Lakshmi Mittal, Chief Executive Officer of ArcelorMittal, said: "This year we have continued to move forward by developing and investing in ground-breaking technologies for our industry, our decarbonisation programme and preparing to report in accordance with new sustainability legislation. We are also moving forward on our diversity and inclusion (D&I) roadmap, which aims to create interaction, provide a flow of new ideas and increase productivity to ensure a high-performance organisation.
