Oleksandr Lukyanov, deputy head of the continuous steel casting converter workshop, said that the continuous steel casting department continues to work, develop and improve despite the difficulties caused by the war. “There are many problems,” Oleksandr Lukyanov continued - including interruptions in electricity supply, a significant deterioration in the quality of water widely used in technological processes, the loss of suppliers of ferroalloys and other necessary materials, the lack of qualified specialists, problems with the supply of spare parts, and so on.
Oleksandr noted that all this set of problems can be solved only through the coordinated work and general mobilization of efforts of the team, which, in addition to metallurgists, includes power engineers, transport workers, process automation department specialists, production and technical department employees and others. Of course, production figures are much lower than before February 2022. But this year, the department's employees have already produced one million tons of billets.
There are plans for the future too. “We are planning to overhaul the first CCM,” Oleksandr Lukyanov continues: “We are introducing a technology that will allow us to produce 160x160 mm billets as well as 150x150 mm billets, which is very important to meet the needs of our customers.
