Investment will cover three main projects at the steel plant; the agglomeration chain, blast furnace and converter. Bruno Ribo, CEO of ArcelorMittal France, stated: “This project is the result of a thorough preparation process to ensure continuity of service to our customers, maintain production fluidity and maximize compliance with safety standards.”
Ribo added that the renovation will not only improve operational reliability, but also prepare the Dunkirk plant for carbon reduction targets.
The plant will be closed for approximately three months from April 15, 2025 for the blast furnace renovation.
ArcelorMittal, in addition to the Dunkirk plant, will also carry out EUR 18.3 million worth of maintenance work at its production facility in Fos-sur-Mer. The company announced that certain production lines will be temporarily shut down at both plants, with an emphasis on safety and modernization work.
