The International Aluminum Technology Fair, one of the world's top three organizations in the aluminum industry, brings together successful global aluminum representatives at ALUEXPO.
The fair, held at the Istanbul Expo Center, attracts great interest this year.
Compared to the previous year, participation in the fair has seen a 174% increase in the number of direct foreign participants and a 25% increase in the number of local participants.
At the fair, which opened its doors with the contributions of the Turkish Aluminum Industrialists Association (TALSAD) and with the participation of Deputy Minister of Trade Mahmut Gürcan, he emphasized that despite global economic challenges, exports have been a driving force in the country's economy in recent times.
Gürcan continued with the following words:
"Our export level, which was $36.1 billion in 2002, has increased sevenfold to reach $254.2 billion. Our share in global exports has risen from 0.5% to 1.2%. We are determined to reach an export figure above last year's by the end of the year. Aluminum, which is used as an intermediate good and input in many sectors, is gaining increasing importance.
The sector's exports, which were $2.2 billion in 2016, have risen to $6.7 billion in 2022. In the context of the recently announced Medium-Term Program, aluminum exports are of critical importance for transitioning to a more productive and efficient economy. Value-added, innovation, advanced technology, and branding are becoming increasingly important. We must adapt to global developments to position our country more strongly. Sustainability, compliance with the Green Deal, and digitalization are important topics in the industry."
