Alcoa's Portland Aluminium Smelter, situated in Portland, Victoria, Australia, has reportedly recommenced production with an annual capacity of 35,000 tons. The smelter had experienced a decline in production prior to this.
Following the resumption, the smelter has been operating at nearly 95% of its current capacity. Additionally, Alcoa is making preparations to consolidate its capacity to approximately 186,000 tons.
The reopening of this aluminum smelter has resulted in the creation of approximately 30 new job opportunities, significantly impacting the Portland area.
