The HyIron Oshivela Project in Namibia, supported by the German government, is based on a partnership between Namibian and German companies. The project has also secured €13 million (US$14 million) in funding so far.
Johannes Michels, Managing Director of HyIron, said: "We will employ 50 people in the pilot of the phase of the Oshivela Project. We plan for the new plant to cost €30 million in total and to produce 15,000 tons of iron per year without carbon emissions," said Johannes Michels, Managing Director of HyIron.
The plant is expected to start by the end of 2024.
