Tosyalı stated that ADMIB contributed approximately USD 1.4 billion to the total export figure, representing a 28% increase, and that they are continuing sustainable production and investments that will position Turkish companies for global competitiveness.
According to data released by the General Secretariat of the Mediterranean Exporters' Associations (AKIB), ferrous and non-ferrous metal exports dropped by 23.7% in June, reaching USD 49 million. However, steel exports increased by 61.6% to USD 229 million.
Iron and non-ferrous metal exports decreased by 9.6% in the first half of the year, dropping to USD 360 million. Meanwhile, steel exports increased by 50% to USD 1 billion.
Tosyalı expressed that they began 2024 with positive targets for exports, tonnage, and turnover, and have largely achieved these goals. He said, "The ongoing global contraction in demand for ferrous and non-ferrous metals presents a challenging landscape, however, we are confident that our sector will perform better in the second half of the year compared to the first half. In the steel sector, we are committed to meeting growing demand, achieving growth exceeding that of the first half in the second half of the year, and making a substantial contribution to Türkiye's export performance. Our companies have undertaken significant preparations and investments in alignment with the EU Green Deal, and we are now reaping the benefits of these efforts. In this challenging global environment, we remain steadfast in our commitment to sustainable production and investments that will elevate our companies to the forefront of global competition. Our ultimate goal is to ensure that we are optimally positioned not only for the current year, but also for the years to come, and to achieve the highest possible level of export success."
