According to TUIK data, housing sales in Turkey decreased to the lowest level since May 2021 as 80 thousand 31 with the effect of the earthquake in February.

Housing sales in Turkey decreased by 18.0 percent in February compared to the same month of the previous year and became 80 thousand 31.
In housing sales, Istanbul had the highest share with 14 thousand 980 housing sales and 18.7 percent. According to the sales numbers, Istanbul was followed by Ankara with 8 thousand 235 housing sales and a share of 10.3 percent, and Izmir with 5 thousand 31 housing sales and a share of 6.3 percent. The provinces with the lowest number of housing sales were Hakkari with 16 houses, Ardahan with 30 houses and Tunceli with 47 houses, respectively.
Mortgaged housing sales decreased
Mortgaged housing sales across Turkey decreased by 12.7 percent in February compared to the same month of the previous year and became 17 thousand 357. The share of mortgaged sales in total housing sales was 21.7 percent. Mortgaged housing sales in the January-February period decreased by 11.8 percent compared to the same period of the previous year and became 33 thousand 560.
5,093 of the mortgaged sales in February; In the January-February period, 9 thousand 353 of the mortgage sales were realized as first-hand sales.
The number of first-hand housing sales across Turkey decreased by 18.8 percent in February compared to the same month of the previous year and became 23 thousand 476.
Second-hand housing sales decreased by 17.7 percent compared to the same month of the previous year and became 56 thousand 555.
Housing sales to foreigners decreased
Housing sales to foreigners decreased by 27 percent in February compared to the same month of the previous year and became 3 thousand 350. Antalya took the first place in housing sales to foreigners with the sale of one thousand 261 houses. Antalya was followed by Istanbul with 133 thousand housing sales and Mersin with 225 housing sales, respectively.
Russian citizens bought one thousand 183 houses from Turkey. Russia was followed by Iran with 446 houses, Iraq with 173 houses and Ukraine with 142 houses, respectively.
