Acciaierie d'Italia plans to increase crude steel production

Sources told SteelRadar that the production capacity of ADI's No. 4 blast furnace, which operates at 60% capacity and produces 4000 metric tons of crude steel per day, will be increased.

With a total capacity of 2 million metric tons of crude steel, ADI officials said blast furnace No. 2, which was shut down in January, will be restarted in September, while BF No. 1, which was shut down in August 2023, will resume production in a maximum of nine months.

The Commissioners noted that the refurbishment of BF5, with a capacity of 4 million metric tons, which was shut down in 2015, would not be feasible as it would cost between EUR 500-600 million to restore. At the same time, two electric arc furnaces with a capacity of 2 million metric tons of steel each, the construction of which will start in 2025, will start production in 2027.
