A ferroalloy plant is planned to be built in Kazakhstan with Turkish investment

In the Abay region of Kazakhstan, a Turkish company plans to build a ferroalloy plant and mining-processing complex worth $79.2 million. The project will start in mid-2027 and will have an annual processing capacity of 300 thousand tonnes of chrome ore.

According to the local press in Kazakhstan, a new production facility worth $79.2 million is planned to be built in the Abay region of Kazakhstan. The project, which will be implemented by a Turkish company, includes a ferroalloy plant and a mining and processing complex in the Zharma region in eastern Kazakhstan.

Currently, topographic and geodetic studies of the planned construction area are in progress. The project is expected to start in mid-2027. Total capital investments are estimated at $79.2 million.

The production capacity of the plant includes the annual enrichment of 300 thousand tonnes of chrome ore, 142 thousand tonnes of chromite concentrate and 56 thousand tonnes of high carbon ferrochrome. The raw materials will be sourced from discovered chromite deposits and the plant is expected to employ 250 people in construction and 375 people once operational, including 237 in the ferroalloy plant and 74 in the mining and processing complex. The identity of the Turkish company is not yet known.
