Today, Iranian steel production capacity is estimated at more than 50 million tons per year, a statistic that looks promising and could maintain Iran's current position as the top steel producer in the Middle East, but it is only a nominal figure. Production reaches 30 million tons per year, which means that 40% of this capacity is currently unused and on the other hand, 40% of the country's steelmaking capacity is concentrated in the Isfahan Industrial Zone.
The challenge posed by the gap between nominal capacity and production is constantly plaguing the domestic industry, and in this particular case, numerous reasons have been put forward by producers, various factors of the production chain and of course the decision makers of the steel industry. Of course, each of them has its place to be discussed and investigated, but it seems that the two main problems, the weakness of the production chain, especially in the area of iron ore supply, and more importantly the problem of energy imbalance. should be seen as more important than other factors. Both the private and public sectors have solutions and are making great efforts to stabilize the production chain, i.e. the balanced development of the iron and steel sector in the country. from this point of view, the organization of the 16th Isfahan International Metallurgical Exhibition, called Metalex 2024, is of great importance for Iran.
The Isfahan Steel Exhibition, one of the country's largest industrial events, was held in Isfahan from September 27-30, 2024. The four-day exhibition hosted over 170 local and foreign companies in steel industry, cast iron and non-ferrous metal production, metallurgical industrial services and related industrial machinery and equipment.
Isfahan Steel Exhibition provided many opportunities for exhibitors and visitors. Companies exhibited their products and services, established new contacts and developed their local and foreign markets. Visitors recognized the latest achievements and technologies of the steel industry and updated their knowledge.
