As a result of the analysis, it was observed that the merchant bars and light sections quotas opened for China were rapidly filling up, while the quotas opened for other countries were observed to be slow. In the hollow profiles group, the rapid progress of the quotas opened for Turkey drew attention.
In the middle of the second quarter of the year, the ranking of EU quotas for the merchant bars and light sections group by country progressed as follows:
The quota of 133,536/t opened for China was quickly filled.
16.280/t of the 164.635/t quota opened for Switzerland was used. The remaining 148,355/t is expected to be filled by gaining momentum.
The country that progressed the slowest for this product group was the United Kingdom. It was observed that only 10,875/t of the 346.315/t quota announced at the beginning of the second quarter was used. With the 234,755/t transferred, the remaining quota amount was 335,440/t.
At the same time, the stagnation of hollow sections from the quotas opened for the UK was not overlooked. While 16,424/t was used out of the 89.811/t quota opened to the UK for hollow profiles, the remaining amount was determined as 73,387/t.
Turkey was the country with the fastest pace in the EU quotas for hollow sections. 95.276/t quota was opened for Türkiye. While 77,226/t of the opened quota amount is used, the remaining 18,050/t is expected to be filled towards the end of the second quarter.
Unlike Turkey, Switzerland was the country with the slowest quota for this product group. Of the 55,768/t quota for Switzerland, only 767/t was used. The quota amount to be completed was recorded as 55.001/t. It seems that this slow trend will continue throughout the second quarter.
When the quotas opened for Macedonia in hollow sections are evaluated, it is seen that 9.833/t was used out of the 74.992/t quota opened for Macedonia, while the expected amount to be filled was 65.159/t.
