Trade between Türkiye and Slovenia hit a record high

Economic relations between Türkiye and Slovenia have been accelerating in recent years, continuing to strengthen. The "Strategic Partnership Document," signed in 2011, gave momentum to bilateral relations in various fields. Although this document does not contain a direct trade commitment, it has contributed to the growth of commercial relations between the two countries. As a result, trade between Türkiye and Slovenia has shown steady growth.

New Opportunities in Trade

As economic cooperation between Türkiye and Slovenia is expected to expand further in the coming period, there is significant potential in various sectors, including energy, logistics, healthcare, construction, telecommunications, security, oil and gas, transportation, information technology, automation solutions, steel construction, aluminum and metal, defense, and aviation.

Record Exports from Türkiye to Slovenia

According to data compiled by an Anadolu Agency (AA) correspondent from the Turkish Exporters Assembly (TİM), Türkiye achieved its highest-ever monthly exports to Slovenia, reaching $371.5 million.

In January 2025, Türkiye's exports to Slovenia increased by 119.3% compared to the same period last year. On a sectoral basis, the automotive industry led the way with exports totaling $170.9 million. This was followed by the chemicals and chemical products sector with $170.3 million, steel with $5.5 million, and electrical-electronics with $4.1 million.

Industrial Sectors Take the Lead

Nine out of the top ten exporting sectors to Slovenia operate in the industrial field. In January 2025, the chemical sector led the growth in exports. The chemicals and chemical products sector took the top spot with an increase of $163.7 million, followed by the automotive industry with an increase of $31.7 million and the steel sector with a $2.8 million increase.

Leading Exporting Cities

The leading Turkish cities in exports to Slovenia were Kocaeli, Istanbul, Bursa, Sakarya, and Izmir. Kocaeli ranked first with exports totaling $312.6 million, followed by Istanbul with $18.1 million, Bursa with $17.2 million, Sakarya with $3.7 million, and Izmir with $3.5 million.

The trade volume between Türkiye and Slovenia is expected to continue increasing in the coming period. The strategic partnership between the two countries could be further strengthened through new sectoral investments and trade agreements.
