According to information compiled from the data of the Turkish Exporters Assembly (TİM), automotive and chemical companies accounted for 70% of the exports made from the city in the January-March period, amounting to $3.18 billion.
The automotive industry, based in the city, increased its foreign sales performance by 24% in this period, taking the first place with $2.28 billion worth of exports.
The chemical sector, which ranks second in the city's exports, recorded $898.3 million in foreign sales in the first quarter.
The iron and non-iron metals sector ranked third with $342.5 million, while the electric and electronic sector ranked fourth with $241.6 million, and the steel sector ranked fifth with $232.7 million in exports.
