World Steel Association (Worldsteel) announced crude steel production data for March 2024. Crude steel production in Türkiye increased by 18.0% compared to the same period of the previous year and reached 3.2 million tons in March.

First quarter production up by 28.5%
Total crude steel production in the January-March period increased by 28.4% when compared to the same period of the previous year and reached 9.5 million tons.
Analyzing the production data of other countries, crude steel production of China, the world's largest steel producer, decreased by 7.8% to 88.3 million tons.
India's production increased by 7.8% to 12.7 million tons, Japan's production dropped by 3.9% to 7.2 million tons, the US production remained unchanged at 6.9 million tons, Russia's production increased by 0.8% to 6.6 million tons and South Korea's production fell by 9.5% to 5.3 million tons.
Germany produced 3.5 million tons of crude steel, up 8.4%, Iran 2.8 million tons, up 2.0%, and Brazil 2.8 million tons, up 5.6%.
Global steel production remained at 161.2 million tons in March, down 4.3 percent from the same period of the previous year.
